One Love Bar and Grill, Jost Van Dyke, BVI

DEEP BACKGROUND: From the water's edge on spectacular White Bay, it looks as if a whirlpool swallowed an ocean's worth of flotsam and jetsam - life rings, fishing floats and such - and then coughed it up on shore to create the One Love Bar and Grill. Inside, you'll find Seddy Callwood (the famous Foxy's oldest son) and his wife, Raquel, hosting one of the coolest little bars on the beach.

CAST OF CHARACTERS: Loyal One-Lovers include yachties who dinghy or swim ashore, along with day-trippers from Tortola, St. Thomas and St. John.  Story goes that it was One Love's "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem" sign that inspired Kenny Chesney's hit song of the same title during one of his visits.

SUSTENANCE: So far, the "grill" in Bar and Grill is just wishful thinking (Hey, this is the islands: Soon come.), but they promise "fresh local food" by high season. Until then, it's only a short walk down the sand to Jewel's, which serves up the best burgers and dogs on the beach.

DIVERSIONS: Ask Seddy to reach into his bag of tricks - and prepare to have your mind blown, especially if you've already downed a Bushwhacker or two. Cards and coins obey his commands; he nonchalantly ignores the laws of physics. He's a dreadlocked David Blaine, but with personality.

LOCAL KNOWLEGDE: One Love (284-495-9829) has a full bar and boasts the coldest beer in the BVI. It's open seven days a week until sunset, when boaters hightail it out of White Bay while it's still light enough to navigate the narrow cuts in the reef. There's live music Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. For a later scene, head around the bend to Foxy's on Great Bay.
