St. Lucia holds plenty of temptations for visitors anxious to explore the island. But Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort presents a predicament: There's so much to do, you won't want to leave the property.
Anchoring its own stretch of shoreline on Labrelotte Bay, Windjammer Landing encompasses 55 acres of lushly landscaped and meticulously tended gardens. During my stay, there were three different kinds of hummingbirds sipping nectar from the ixora blossoms outside my suite, and white ibises pecking around the lawns like Central Park squirrels.
With one- to four-bedroom suites (some with private plunge pools), Windjammer Landing has an accommodation option to fit every need. The resort takes particularly good care of families, offering personal nannies for a fee. In addition, children 4 to 12 years old can take part in the daily Jacquot Children Fun Club.
There are four on-site pools, lighted tennis courts, a fitness center and a top-notch dive facility. The three dining rooms offer numerous meal plans. My favorite meal of the day was breakfast - a lavish Caribbean buffet of tasty island treats: saltfish simmered with green bananas, hot johnnycakes right off the griddle, and plenty of mangoes and papaya. It was a good thing Windjammer Landing offers a full array of vigorous activities, because exercise is a must before sitting down to an equally lavish lunch.
