In keeping with St. Barts' reputation as one of the Caribbean's toniest destinations, Villa Horizon St. Jean epitomizes the cushy, well-heeled lifestyle.
Surrounded by manicured gardens of hibiscus and bougainvillea, this sprawling, open-air villa was built in 1991 and has since been renovated and expanded. The master bungalow has a private suite with red cedar-paneled walls, kitchen and living area. In the main house, three bedrooms share a restaurant-quality kitchen, a smaller breakfast kitchen and a living room furnished with antiques, a Bieder-meier sofa, original oil paintings, Baccarat and Daum crystal and Versace vases. Bedrooms are tastefully outfitted with Moseley and Pratesi linens.
The spacious 1,000-square-foot, L-shaped heated swimming pool connects the bungalow and the main house with a wraparound terrace. There's also a new cabana complete with hammocks and exercise equipment. St. Jean's boutiques and restaurants are nearby, as is Gustavia, the charming capital.
Horizon can accommodate eight guests and costs $15,400 per week in low season ($26,075 high). A one-week minimum stay is required; during Christmas, a two-week stay at $42,000 per week is required. The maid can attend to all the comforting details, including a catered dinner upon arrival and daily breakfast and cleaning. For more information, call St. Barth Properties at 800-421-3396.
