The piña colada is said to have originated nearly a half-century ago in Puerto Rico when bartender Don Ramon Portas first concocted the famous coconut, pineapple and rum blend at the Barrachina in Old San Juan. We've scored the original 1963 recipe – including the recommended Puerto Rican rum – so you can whip up the tropical mixed drink just as it was intended to be served.
