Even if you’ve never heard of Guy Harvey, you probably know his fish-themed T-shirts, sported all over the Caribbean and beyond. The Jamaica-born Cayman Islands resident specializes in marine art — everything from small pen-and-inks of groupers to 300-foot murals of sharks — and knows the scientific names of all his salty subjects. But what else would you expect from a former university professor with a Ph.D. in marine biology? In his second career as a wildly successful artist, Harvey’s remarkably realistic images adorn canvas and even vinyl car wraps. We found the man himself at his George Town gallery to get his take on Cayman — and those ubiquitous T-shirts. Here are highlights ......
Ok, so you may never have a bikini bod like Halle Berry's Bond Girl Jinx Johnson in Die Another Day (join the club). But you could conceivably dress like one in a piece from boho-chic brand Haute Hippie’s "All Things Gold" collection, which debuts in October....
What do you get when you combine recycled soda cans and a few sharp tools? In my case: a bloody mess. In jewelers Marthe Harwell and Jan Norris’ case: whimsical necklaces and earrings that say “Caribbean” in the most delightful way....
Gallery of West Indian Art, Montego Bay, Jamaica
I used to live in Mo’Bay and The Gallery of West Indian Art was always my one-stop shopping destination when I was traveling abroad and wanted to take locally made items with me as presents. Harmony Hall, Ocho Rios, Jamaica
So you’ve combed the craft market and bought more than your duty-free allowance at the jewelry store. Now here’s another place I recommend you drop some dough in Ocho Rios. ...
Atelier Turquoise - Union Island, The Grenadines
Isn't it funny how a shopportunity can present itself when you least expect it? Such was the case a few months ago when I stumbled upon Atelier Turquoise, a tiny Grenadines treasure trove of Caribbean art, craft, and semi-precious jewelry made by très charming French owner Annie-France DuLac.

In a tiny gingerbread workshop in the shadow of Petit Piton, artisan Zaka handcrafts his collection of Crayola-bright masks and fanciful sculptures. Born and raised in London, England, Zaka came to the island 18 years ago to visit his St. Lucian father. “But I tore up my ticket, burned my jacket, and couldn’t go back,”......
If you’re going to Mexico any time soon, PLEASE resist the urge to bring back one of those obnoxiously-oversized sombreros! Instead keep your eyes peeled for something unique and authentic that you won’t be embarrassed to wear or display.

What is the perfect Caribbean swimsuit? We're on the hunt this summer, after seeing the already-famous bikini with a cape at the recent Caribbean International Fashion Week. Yes, that's a contender. But if the cape is a little much, what about a swimsuit that is the exact color of perfect Caribbean water? We think this Vitamin A bikini comes closest to matching the sea itself. It's perfect whether ... ...
