Are You Ready for Some Football? Barbados Sends Baltimore an Offensive Lineman

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, as far as I’m concerned: It’s almost football season. Well, pre-season. And really, is there any team other than the Green Bay Packers? The answer is no, but if you must root for another team, here’s a good reason to cheer on the Baltimore Ravens. Ramon Harewood, a Barbados native, is the first-ever NFL player drafted from the island, picked up in the sixth round. Barbados is much better known for ever-so-British cricket of course, and Harewood, an All-American from Morehouse College in Atlanta, began his athletic career playing both that sport and rugby at home. He’s only been playing American football for four years, but at 6’6” and 341 pounds, he’s a natural fit for the Ravens offensive line. And I’m 100% behind him – unless the Ravens play the Pack, of course.
