Food Watch: Aruba's Chi Chi Cocktail
Feeling Aruba’s famous powdery white sands in between your toes is great. But it’s even better with an ice-cold Chi Chi — an Aruban twist on the pina colada that favors vodka instead of rum — in one hand and some hot-and-spicy fresh-caught tuna in the other. Enjoy both at their best on the northeast coast at MooMba Beach Bar & Restaurant, where the calm of peering divi-divi trees meets the energy of calypso music in perfect harmony.
Make It at Home:
• 1½ oz. vodka
• 3 oz. pineapple juice or crushed pineapple (canned)
• 2 oz. cream of coconut
• ½ oz. grenadine
• ¾-cup crushed ice
• 2 pieces fresh pineapple and maraschino cherry for garnish
Put ingredients, except fresh pineapple pieces, in a blender and blend at medium-high speed for 15 seconds. Pour into a chilled Collins glass or stemmed goblet. Garnish with fresh pineapple stick and maraschino cherry.
