The winds of political change are sweeping across Bonaire, and the tiny island has chosen a memorable date to commemorate the occasion. On 10/10/10, Bonaire will no longer be part of the Netherlands Antilles, but will join sister islands Saba and Statia to become a municipality of Holland. And some good news for American travelers – in January, the U.S. dollar will become the island’s official currency.
