Miami Rum Renaissance Recap

Miami Rum Renaissance Recap

May 5th, 2011
By Reagan Johnson

Last week, I took on one of my more daunting CT+L assignments to date: Reporting to you sober-ish from a weeklong celebration of tropical drinks at the Miami Rum Renaissance festival. It's not that I'm prone to drinking on the job (at least, not more so than other Caribbean writers...), but with over 40 rum distillers from around the world, all in one place representing their sweet and oh-so-diverse cane spirits, I had my work cut out for me at this event. Somehow through the immense challenges I persevered, making my rounds – notebook and plastic cup in hand – to each and every distiller exhibiting at the Deauville Beach Resort. And the result? A veritable stockpile of delicious new drink recipes just for you. Stay tuned this week and next as we roll out some of the best of the best tropical drink recipes, like mixologist Rob V. Burr's Zombie Cocktail, right here on caribbeantravelmag.com. Trust me, you won't want to miss any of these.
