Although Kingston is the capital and the largest city in Jamaica, it doesn't attract the visitors that Ocho Rios does. In Runaway Bay and Ocho Rios, in addition to beachfront hotels, there are good facilities and scenic views at Turtle Beach, Mallard's Beach, Shaw Park, Dunn's River Beach and UDC Beach.
A less well-known spot popular with locals is Irie Beach on the White River, when the water levels are sufficient. It's less touristy, more friendly and there's a nice restaurant, too. Ocho Rios is also now a bustling cruise port.
