Trinidad & Tobago

Trinidad throws one of the Caribbean's liveliest parties each spring with Carnival, but for tranquil white-sand beaches and great snorkeling spots, make a beeline to sister island Tobago.

Trinidad and Tobago

Overview

Collapse

Trinidad is the Carnival capital of the Caribbean. Ranking up there with New Orleans in festivities, the island also boasts a top-notch variety of delicious cuisines such as Chinese, Creole, French, East Indian and Spanish.

Tobago, which lies 22 miles northeast of Trinidad, has sheer cliffs and volcanic mountains covered in rain forests. While the beaches of Trinidad are volcanic black, Tobago's are white with a shallow coral reef in the clear, blue water offshore.
