WIth beautiful beaches and numerous archeological destinations, Riviera Maya is a fabulous and varied vacation destination, whether you're in search of relaxation, eco-adventure or a little bit of both. This blog from Jasmine Wanders showcases two of our favorite Riviera Maya spots - Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
There are many other archeological sites in the area to be visited, some more extensive than Tulum, but you won't find one with a more impressive backdrop for photography or sightseeing - the small, flat-roofed structures offer amazing views of the Caribbean Sea. (As you can see in Jasmine's photos, it's possible to bask in the sun just outside the ruins.)
You can also find many small ruins in Playa del Carmen, but the focus in this area is on the beach. Take a stroll down Avenida Quinta (Fifth Avenue) and check out the shops, bars and restaurants, and then hit the sand:
Playa del Carmen is one of the prettiest beaches I’ve seen… ever. Silky white sand, deep blue sky, multi-colored waters – it doesn’t get much better than this.
